THE MANAGEMENT of Berekum Arsenal has dismissed media reports, in which, Mr. Kofi Manu claimed, he helped championed the club's success-story, reports Isaac Franklin.
A statement signed and addressed to Guide Sports, by Mr. Takyi- Arhin, general secretary of Berekum Arsenal, pointed out: “For Mr. Kofi Manu, the club's immediate past Accra representative, to say that, he was the Alpha and Omega of Arsenal, is rather unfortunate.”
Mr. Arhin indicated that, Mr. Manu only attended meetings of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), as well as the Disciplinary Committee, alongside Mr. Kwame Ntow Fiako, and himself.
He queried: “What else did he do to accord him such accolade? He expressed dismay at Mr. Manu's lamentations, which hinted that, during the Ghana Football Association (GFA)'s presidential elections, the management supported the candidature of Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi, instead of being neutral. According to him, the former Accra representative's notion was baseless. “How could an individual, as Mr. Manu, then, the club's Accra representative, ask the management of Arsenal rally behind Yusif Adams Ibrahim, then an aspirant,” the general secretary wondered.
Mr. Arhin stressed: “Was he not the campaign manager of Mr. Ibrahim? He further described Mr. Manu's remarks as “Understatement and uncalled for”, adding that, wisdom does not reside in age.
He also said, the club's former representative was being mischievous, when he (Mr. Manu) maintained, he did not get a copy of the list of delegates, for the FA presidential elections.
“Nobody knew Kofi Manu, before he joined Berekum Arsenal. If you see a dog on a tree, it means somebody sent it there”, Mr. Arhin pointed out.
The Arsenal general secretary divulged that, before emerging the club's Accra representative, he, Mr. Manu, was then assisting Mr Kwame Ntow Fiako. According to the club's general secretary, Mr. Manu's resignation letter had been accepted by the management, emphasising, that would not make any negative impact on Arsenal.
This, he explained, was because, ! the management is capable of doing everything, without Mr. Manu.
In the interim, Berekum Arsenal's management has wished Mr. Manu well, in his future endeavours.
The club has also, warned the immediate past Accra representative, not to try to put the name of Arsena1 into disrepute, since that would be resisted, with all the force, at its disposal.
The management has, however, sent copies of the preceding reactions to Mr. Kofi Manu, as well as the club's chairman, Alhaji Yakubu Moro.
