Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) President, Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah has hailed Ghana’s iconic top scorer Asamoah Gyan aka Baby Jet following the successful organisation of the second edition of Baby jet Under 16 Africa Championship.

Ben Nunoo Mensah said, "What Asamoah Gyan did in Accra Academy if about 30% of our professional or pass footballers will also do the same in the various communities or schools like our football will be at a different level".

“When you look at Asamoah Gyan, God has blessed him, I believe Asamoah Gyan is the best Player in Africa has produced, he is broke all records and for me in Ghana, in terms of helping or pushing the game. I think he is far exceeded the records. He has broke when you come to youth development. And I wish other stars who are currently playing outsides will do the same. Yes, they may not be able to much what Asamoah Gyan has done but I think Asamoah Gyan is a record-breaker, wherever he goes. This is absolutely mind-blowing’ he expressed.

“So we will continue to pray for him. I am sure he still has a lot to offer this country, let pray for him especially the young boys who are playing football. I mean they need support from people like Asamoah Gyan. I think we should continue to pray for him” he added.

Sixteen clubs across West African competed against each other for the 2019 edition which attracted a lot of spectators.

The Baby Jet Africa Under 16tournament offers the young talented players the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents to top scouts, coaches, agents and representatives of foreign clubs.

The programme is also to give unsigned players the opportunity to earn professional contracts with foreign clubs.

The Baby Jet Under 16 tournament is organized by Goldstar Consult LTD, Supported by Champion Dishes, Ashfoam, Asamoah Gyan Foundation and Baby Jet promotion.
