Editor of Asante Kotoko Express, Jerome Otchere says he is not convinced with Ashgold chances against RS Berkane in the return encounter in Morocco.

The Ghana Premier League giants managed a 3:2 win over the Moroccan side on Saturday afternoon at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.

Left-back Eric Donkor scored the first for Ashanti Gold after 17 minutes.

The defender met a long pass from James Akaminko and looped it over the RS Berkane goalkeeper in what initially looked like a cross.

Captain Shafiu Mumuni scored the second goal for the home side after capitalization on a miscommunication between the RS Berkane goalkeeper Youness Karabila and defender Issoufou Dayo.

The visitors came back stronger in the second half and got a consolation from captain Mohamed Aziz who headed in a free-kick from Najji Larbi.

Hamdi Laachir drew RS Berkane level with a sweet finish after poor defending from Ashanti Gold centre back pair Yusif Mubarik and Musah Mohammed who had come on to replace Richard Osei Agyemang.

Ashanti Gold quickly responded by getting the third from a deflected strike which crossed the goal line.

Ahead of the return encounter, the astute sports journalist and writer beleives the Miners will struggle to play from home adding that he does not see them progressing ahead of the Moroccan side.

"I was not surprised with Ashgold results against RS Berkane because they have not been impressive," he told GTV Sports Plus on Sunday Night Live program.

"During the game, you could see that Ashgold were not controlling the tempo of the game and it was a problem.

"Playing North African side is always difficult because for them to get two goals away will be difficult for Ashgold.

"Not taking anything away from them, they [Ashgold] have done well but travelling for the return encounter and playing a North African side, I don't see Ashgold progressing," he added.
