NC To Act As Election Committee For Upcoming GFA Presidential Elections

The Normalization Committee (NC) has through a press statement noted that they will be acting as the elections committee for the upcoming presidential elections of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The football community is set to go to the polls next month to elect a new president that will lead the association since the departure of Lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi.

It had earlier been circulated in the media that an elections committee was going to be outdoored this week, with some reports going to the extreme to note that Rex Dankwah has been selected as it's chairman.

In a statement from the GFA to counter that report, however, they have revealed that members of the Normalization Committee will act in the capacity of the election committee.

A part of the statement shared, “Pursuant to Article 79.2 (Transitional provisions) of the newly adopted Statutes of the GFA, members of the Normalization Committee of the GFA shall act as the Elections Committee for the upcoming GFA presidential and executive council elections”.

PRESS RELEASE: ELECTIONS COMMITTEE OF GFA
The GFA Normalization Committee’s attention has been drawn to inaccurate media reports that it has made appointments to the Elections Committee for the upcoming elections.

The NC wishes to inform all stakeholders that these reports are false and should be disregarded.

Pursuant to Article 79.2 (Transitional provisions) of the newly adopted Statutes of the GFA, members of the Normalization Committee of the GFA shall act as the Elections Committee for the upcoming GFA presidential and executive council elections.

As part of its duties as stipulated in Article 5 of the Elections Regulations, the NC acting as the Elections Committee is empowered to organize, run and supervise the elections.

The NC will soon announce its roadmap and elections Calendar.
