Accra, Feb 20, GNA - Mr Douglas Djarbeng, Chairman of Division One League (DOL) Board has denied reports that the title sponsors of the impending National Middle League, Fun Play Ghana Limited, have threatened to withdraw their sponsorship because of the protracted legal battle that has resulted in an injunction of the league. He told the GNA Sports that the agreement between DOL and Fun Play is still valid since the company has not served the Board with any notice of any contrary intention.

Mr Djarberg said the company still has a lot of confidence in DOL hence they will not withdraw their package as being speculated. The Board Chairman said that the protracted legal battle might be a sort of worry to the sponsors but added that it would not compel them to withdraw their financial support to the league.

Mr Djarbeng said the Board is currently awaiting a court ruling between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Kintampo United after the latter placed an injunction on the former restraining them from organizing the national Middle league.

He said a ruling in their favour would witness the immediate commencement of the league, which will determine the two clubs to replace relegated Kade Hotspurs and Ebusua Dwarfs from the premiership as well as the team to face Okwawu United in the play off. When Mr William Baka, Administrative Manager of the company was contacted by the GNA Sports he also denied any attempt by the company to withdraw from the deal.

"We have not taken any decision of that nature yet, we are still watching proceedings from the courts".

Mr Baka said at the moment all concentration is on the court case and any action will depend on the outcome of the case. For the first time in the history of the Middle League, the competition is expected to enjoy over 300 million cedis sponsorship package from the lottery company.

The package will include the provision of jerseys for the participating teams and accommodation among others.
