Ghanaian international, Solomon Asante bagged a brace to take his tally of goals in the United Soccer League (USL) to 18 as Phoenix Rising FC beat Reno 1868 FC 4-2 on Friday to propel them to a new record of 14 straight wins.

The attacker who is captaining the club this season has been in fine form all season and continues to bang in the goals week after week.

Hosting Reno 1868 FC at the Casino Arizona Field, Phoenix showed why they are top of the table with another outstanding performance that saw them outclass their opponent.

A 20th minutes strike from Junior Flemmings ensured the winners went into the break with a deserved lead before Daniel Musovski scored with a fine effort to get Reno back into the game just 8 minutes after resuming the second half.

Their smiles did not last as Solomon Asante stepped up to calmly convert two penalties on the 59th and 63rd minute respectively.

In between that, Mustapha Dumbuya scored for Phoenix before Corey Hertzog netted a second for the losers.

The match eventually ended 4-2 in favor of the league leaders who looks well on course to winning the 2019 Western Conference.

Solomon Asante now has 18 goals this season and is a strong favorite to win the MVP award at the end of the season.
