Nana Obiri Boahen the insisted that Coach Kwesi Appiah must be maintained as the head coach of the Black Stars.
Appiah, 59. has been under pressure to quit his job after failing to end the country's 37 years trophyless jinx in Egypt.
Ghana were eliminated at the round of 16, losing 5:4 to Tunisia to extend the long trophy absence to 39 years.
Despite the calls to show the former Al Khartoum manager the exit, the Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP] has suggested that sacking Kwesi Appiah will not be a good decision.
"I disagree with those saying Kwesi Appiah must be sacked," he told Nhyira FM.
"We have seen the likes of Alex Furgerson and Ernesto Valverde getting things wrong but they still kept their jobs.
"We should support because bringing in an expatriate coach will not help," he added.
According to media reports, Kwesi Appiah's contract will end in December 2019.
