Kaneshie No.1 football team played a matured game to beat Asase 5-4 on penalties to lift the giant trophy at stake at the 2019 Okaikoi Homowo Sports programme dubbed ‘Who Rules Okaikoi’.
The team also got the best player award which was given to hard-working midfielder, Stephen Ofori.
They were presented with medals and sponsor products in addition to the cup.
16 teams registered to participate in the two-day programme at the Bubuashie Bishop School Park over the weekend.
Empress ‘O’ Babies were beaten by Roji 1 in the exciting ampe competition. All the winners and runners up were rewarded with medals and sponsors products.
The sponsors of the Okaikoi Ga Homowo Sports Festival were Pepsi, TCB Naturals Hair products, Qualiplast, Parle Biscuits, Vitatop, Paradise Pac, Ocean Spray and Action Insecticide.
The dignitaries who graced the event included the president of Greater Accra Market Women, Madam Mercy Nee Gyan, former PE instructor Maculley, William Ocansey, Bubuashie Manste Nii Ashie Komowua II, Hon. Alfred Adjei, the presiding member at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Hon. Clottey, special assistant to the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Abalo, Assemblymember for Bubuashie and Rev. Akwei of the Bubuashie Anglican Church.
They congratulated the participants and Emmanuel Olla Williams, the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Youth Coordinator for his organizational skills in organizing educational institutions sports and sanitation programmes and recently adding market and community events.
Mr. Williams’ outfit, Dreamland Sports Plus in conjunction with One on One Foundation, the GOC, NSA, AMA and WOSPAG supported the two-day event on Saturday and Sunday, August 10 and 11, 2019 to bring folks in the community together to have fun, fraternize and enjoy sports.
