Ghanaian coach, Charles Kwablah Akonnor has sent his goodwill message to Obuasi Ashanti Gold ahead of their opening match in the CAF Confederations Cup where they are expected to face Equatorial Guinea side Akonangui FC.
The Miners are representing the West African Country in CAF’s second-tier inter-club competition after emerging as champions of the tier 1 of the GFA Normalization Committee (NC) Special Competition.
The draw for the first round of the continental competition has paired the Obuasi based club against Akonangui FC. The first leg is set to be played in Equatorial Guinea before Ashgold host their opponent in Ghana two weeks later.
Ahead of the first leg of the encounter that comes off tomorrow, former Ashgold head coach, CK Akonnor has wished the team well.
He took to his official twitter handle to share, “You have always had the potential to do better, and this our time to show we are capable...All the best Ashgold”.
The team is currently in Equatorial Guinea and will train today to wrap up preparation for the fixture which will be played on Saturday, August 10, 2019.
