Ghana’s CAF Champions League representative, Kumasi Asante Kotoko has started training on the AstroTurf at the Accra Academy School Park as the step up preparations for their clash against Nigeria club Kano Pillars.

The Porcupine Warriors secured qualification into CAF's top-tier inter-club completion after emerging as champions of the tier 1 of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalization Committee (NC) Special Competition.

They have now been paired with a difficult opposition in Kano Pillars who are no strangers when it comes to competing with the best clubs on the African continent.

The first leg of the encounter is expected to be played at the Sani Abacha Stadium which has an AstroTurf playing field.

In a bid to get players used to the surface, Kotoko has decided to train at the Accra Academy School Park before moving to Nigeria for the crucial game.

They trained at the facility yesterday evening and are expected to continue training today through to Thursday when they will depart the shores of Ghana for Nigeria.

The first leg of the match between Kotoko and Kano Pillars comes off on Saturday, August 10, 2019.
