Black Stars defender Jonathan Mensah has revealed that Ghana will not underrate Tunisia when the two sides lock horns in the round of 16 of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The West African country qualified to the round of 16 as leaders of Group F whiles Tunisia progressed as runners-up from Group E. The two sides who enjoyed different tales are set to battle for a spot in the quarter-final stage when they meet on Monday, July 8, 2019.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Sunday morning ahead of the round of 16 clash, Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah stressed that they are not underrating the Carthage Eagles because they do not want to be surprised.
“We have seen the surprises in the tournament and we don’t have to underrate any team”, the Columbus Crew center-back said.
Jonathan Mensah who missed Ghana’s last group match against Guinea Bissau has been declared fit and will be available for selection for the Tunisia match. If he is included in the starting lineup, it is likely he will be partnering John Boye in the center of defense.
The round of 16 match between Ghana and Tunisia will be played at the Ismailia Stadium tomorrow at 19:00GMT.
