AFCON 2019: Black Stars Resume Training Ahead of Round 16 Clash With Tunisia

The Black Stars of Ghana have returned to training to begin preparations for their round of 16 clash against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Ghana who emerged as Group F winners is set to lock horns with the runners-up from Group E as they continue their bid to lift a 5th AFCON title after failing to do so in the last 37 years.

Following an emphatic 2-0 win over Guinea Bissau on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, which secured the Black Stars a round of 16 qualification, the technical team resorted to giving the playing body a one day break to recover the lost energy.

Though the team held a recovery session on Wednesday, the team had a full rest on Thursday.

They have finally returned to training today to commence intensive preparation for their fixture against the North African side. The team engaged in light training sessions this morning in Ismailia and will hold a complete session later in the day.

Meanwhile, injured players Thomas Agyepong and defender Jonathan Mensah has fully recovered and is expected to join the team for training this evening in anticipation to the round of 16 clash.

Ghana will face Tunisia in the round of 16 at the Ismailia Stadium on next week Monday, July 8, 2019.
