Communications Director for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Lawyer Sarfo Duku has rubbished reports suggesting that the club has contacted the head coach for Obuasi Ashanti Gold Kjetil Zachariassen to replace the outgoing Charles Kwablah Akonnor.
News of the imminent partying ways between Coach CK Akonnor and the Porcupine Warriors spread like wildfire on Wednesday following an interview he granted Kumasi based Oyerepa FM indicating that he has been asked to step aside.
After that revelation together with some other checks, it was confirmed that the manager will officially see his contract with the Kumasi based side being terminated in the next couple of days.
Addressing the issue earlier this morning on Asempa FM however, Lawyer Sarfo Duku has stressed that the gaffer is still under contract with Kotoko and there has not been any contact with Ashgold trainer Kjetil Zachariassen for him to take over as head coach.
“We’ve not discussed anything about [Kjetil] and he’s not part of our discussion”.
“C. K still has a contract with Kotoko and as we speak now nothing has changed. But, I can tell you that we have taken a decision about C. K but we have to make it official to him before I can put this out there”, he said.
Meanwhile, Kotoko is set to hold a crunch meeting with CK Akonnor later today to try and settle what is becoming an unhealthy speculation.
