Cup of Nations Kwadwo Baah Agyemang Describes Black Stars Round Of 16 Qualification As A Huge Relief
JUL 4, 2019 LISTEN

Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang has described Ghana’s qualification into the round of 16 of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament as a huge relief for the team and the entire citizenry.

There was a great worry over their ability of the team to progress from Group F after failing to win any of their first two matches at the tournament. First, they drew two all with the Squirrels of Benin before playing out a goalless draw with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

Playing their last group match, however, the Black Stars stepped up and dispatched Guinea Bissau in their final group match which saw them finish on top of the group standings ahead of the defending champions.

Speaking in an interview after the team confirmed their qualification into the knockout stage, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang has stressed that the victory has given everyone some relieve.

“Is a great victory for us. It's a very huge relieve on us. We are grateful to God and to the team”.

“I think they were very disciplined. Tactically they planned to execute the dream for us. They planned and went all out to get the goals for us and I think they did well”, he said.

Now at the round of 16 stage, Ghana is set to come up against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia. That match will be played at the Ismailia Stadium on Monday, July 8, 2019.
