Accra, Jan. 30, GNA - The Fund Raising and Sponsorship Committee of Ghana's Black Stars is evaluating proposals for the production of merchandise to make the national team more resourceful ahead of its maiden World Cup appearance in Germany in June.

It has intensified its campaign of inviting product manufactures and their accredited agents to ensure that they obtain the requisite licenses of the production of merchandise, bearing the logo of the Black Stars and the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

A source close to the Committee told the GNA Sports that the licensed companies would be expected to produce merchandise to raise funds for the Stars' towards the World Cup campaign.

Primarily, among the criteria to merit the right of merchandise are the demonstration of an ability to meet and maintain quality control standards, detailed financial strategy to justify the granting of license and a detailed marketing approach specifying the target market, price, distribution, promotion and strategy for marketing the product.

The Committee last Friday said it was taking a serious view of companies who use the names of the players of the national team, its logo and the production of paraphernalia without recourse to the Ghana Football Association (GFA). It gave such companies up to February 15, this year, to regularize their activities with the FA or brace themselves up for a legal battle.
