.. RETURNS FROM MEDIDCAL CHECK UP Ghana skipper Stephen Appiah could play in Ghana's final group match against Zimbabwe on 31 January.

The first results of a medical scan on his injured foot, on Saturday, indicates that there is no bone fracture, which according to team Ghana's team doctor Martin Engmann, is good news.

"At first we feared there is injury to the bones which could have ruled him out for six weeks, thank God there is no such injury. We are working tirelessly on him and hopefully he will be fit for our next match on Tuesday ", said the team doctor.

Appiah was injured in the Stars game against Senegal, a match in which the Fenerbache star emerged as "The man of the match".

He could therefore not train on Saturday and was taken taken to hospital for a scan to determine the extent of a right foot injury.

On Mathew Amoah, who could also not train on Saturday, due to injury, Engmann was optimistic that the striker would be available for the next match and so would Samuel Osei Kuffuor.

Roma defender Kuffour returned to training on Saturday, after a thigh complaint kept him out of the match against Senegal.

Team officials said he has been advised to play cautiously during training so that the injury does not reoccur.
