Ghana now share three points with Senegal, setting up a tight finish to the group next week. Both sides had a player sent off - Laryea Kingston of Ghana and Senegal fullback Habib Beye - after a mass brawl in the center of the pitch midway through the second half. Sylva then failed to hold a thunderous shot from Ghana captain Stephen Appiah but both Amoah and his striking partner Joetex Frimpong were foiled in their bid to get to the rebound as half-time approached. Kingston should have had Ghana further ahead just 20 seconds into the second half after an astute pass from Appiah but Sylva made a snap save. Senegal then had the better of the chances with both Diouf and Fulham's Pape Bouba Diop, who came on after half-time, wasting free kicks on the edge of the box. Teenager Rahmane Barry went wide with a shot after a strong run from Beye in the 56th minute and Ghana goalkeeper Sammy Adjei almost presented Senegal with a chance for an equaliser when he missed a cross 10 minutes from time. The arrival of Mamadou Niang and Diomansy Kamara into the Senegal attack kept Ghana pinned back in their own half as the game drew to a close but after four anxious minutes of additional time, the Black Stars had secured the win. Turning point: The sendings-off of Larryea Kingston and Habib Beye for a load of nonsense, which would never had happened had the Ghana man not fallen to the floor like a sack of spuds after minimal contact from the unfortunate Beye.
