Toyota Ghana Company Limited on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, presented sporting items to the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) towards the first Africa Beach Sports Festival in Cape Verde.

The items made up of 50 tracksuits, 50 polo shirts and 50 baseball caps were presented to the GOC president Ben Nunoo Mensah by the National Sales and Marketing Manager Andrew Lamptey at the Toyota House in Accra.

In his welcome address, Mr Lamptey reminded guests present that Toyota Ghana is the sole authorized distributor of Toyota vehicles and genuine spare parts in Ghana.

He said it was a great pleasure to meet the official “Team Ghana” for the SAL and Olympic Games and Toyota is happy and proud to be associated with the worldwide Olympic Games through their partnership.

“Toyota Motor Corporation, TMC proudly serves as a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner and are committed to this course as a source of inspiration and as a way to improve the quality of life for all. Through our philosophy of “Ever Better Mobility for All”, Toyota is proud to support the Tokyo 2020 Games and provide sustainable mobility solutions to help move the world forward” he said.

He stressed that Toyota Ghana believes in the powers of sports being able to bring people of diverse background together and help them achieve their dreams.

“Through this, we can employ the utilization of sporting activities to increase social wellbeing by way of health, wealth and total human development” he added.

According to Mr Lamptey by the partnership with the GOC, they hope to rally support among Ghanaians and especially the youth and create awareness to develop a solution for societal changes, seek to improve awareness for good healthy living for sustained societal development through sports with health and environmental wellbeing as their focus.

He said Toyota Ghana is providing Team Ghana going for the SAL Beach Games tracksuits, polo shirts and baseball caps as well as sponsoring the tickets of 3 athletes.

He added that Toyota Ghana is also going to be fully engaged in the upcoming Olympic Day Run in Koforidua on June 22.

He ended by quoting the values of the Olympic Movement of Excellence, Friendship and Respect which should be applied in our daily lives.

Ben Nunoo Mensah on his part thanked Toyota Ghana and said contributing to sports is equal to making someones live better and contributing positively to development of Ghana.

He named karate-do, basketball, freestyle football and volleyball as the four disciplines that Ghana is going to take part in, and wished the athletes to go and make the nation proud by winning medals.

Edmund Asante Amoako, a karateka and Joel Asare, the freestyle footballer did some demonstrations to the admiration of guests and the media.

Present at the presentation ceremony were some GOC board members; Alex K. Duah of Ghana Tennis, Stephen Asante Bekoe of Ghana Rowing & Canoeing, Nana Mankatta of Sports For All, Theo Edzie of Ghana Swimming,Melvin Brown of Ghana Karate Do and Mohammed Mahadi of Ghana Fencing,

Isao Tomizuka, GM Finance, Jacob Pimpong GM Logistics and Suzzy Ansah PR Executive of Toyota Ghana also graced the event.
