Esther wins Lady Captain's Prize

Tema, Jan. 14, GNA-Esther Antwi returned an impressive net score of 66, to win this year's Tema Country Golf Club Lady Captain's Prize competition played at Tema on Saturday.

Victoria Adjei came second with 67 net, Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong was third with 68 net, while Margaret Owusu-Baah took the fourth position with 70 net, beating Joy Arkutu on count-back. The Group B segment, reserved for Handicaap 18-24 golfers, was won by Cho Soon Yeong with 65 net, beating Margaret Hanson non count-back while Esther Quartey placed third with 70 net.

Group Capt. Gyimah Kwakye won the Men's event with 62 net, Michael Osei came second with 65 net, Michael Aggrey placed third with 66 net, beating Kofi Essel-Koomson on count-back while Nana Owusu-Afari came fifth with 68 net.

The Youth category was won by John Mensah with 66 net, with Syeed Junior taking the second position with 68 net. Victor Brave-Mensah came first in the Professionals category ,with 66 gross, Eric Henaku came second with 67 gross while E.K. Osei placed third with 68 gross. The one-day 18-Stableford competition opened to amateur and professional golfers from Tema, Achimota, Celebrity and Bok Nam Kim golf clubs, was sponsored by Mrs Elizabeth Koomson, Lady Captain of Tema Golf Club.

Mrs Koomson, whose term of office expires at the end of this month, called on golfers to be tolerant, unite and love one another so that the game of golf would be promoted. Mr Felix Owusu-Adjapong, President of the Tema Golf Club was assisted by Mrs Koomson to present prizes to the winners.
