Ashanti Gold striker, Shafui Mumuni netted a hat-trick earlier today as his side dismantled Aduana Stars 4-1 in the ongoing Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalization Committee (NC) Special Competition.
The novelty competition has gradually shaped up and is nearing the completion of its preliminary round. In a match week 12 fixture at the Len Clay Sports Stadium, a five-star performance from Shafui and his peers was more than enough to quench the fire of the away Dormaa based side.
The striker put his side ahead in the early minutes of the first half before he, unfortunately, scored an own goal to restore parity for the away side. They returned to the second half with more purpose knowing that failure to grab all 3 points could cost them any chance of qualifying to the next stage of the NC Special Competition.
Shafui combined with Amos Nkrumah in the second half to complete the demolishing exercise exerted on the ‘Fire boys’.
As expected, the win has given them hope going into the final 2 matches of the competition. Just 2 points separate them from the top two teams – Medeama SC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko. They have no option than to win all remaining matches and hope the teams above them drop points to have any chance of progressing from the preliminary stage.
