Kumasi Asante Kotoko put up a resilient performance to record an important 1-0 victory over Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium today to enhance their chances of progressing to the next phase of the Normalization Committee (NC) Special Competition.
The side has been struggling for good form in the last 3 matches they have played. Their recent dip in form has however been overturned today following a crucial win in the Premier A division.
The Kumasi based side despite failing to make inroads in the first half, returned to put up a performance deserving of 3 points in the second half as they finally returned to winning ways.
Defender Abdul Ganiyu scored the only goals of the game on the 76th minute via a penalty kick. From there on, they managed the match to see out the remaining minutes to ensure the scoreline stayed the same at the end of the 90 minutes.
Kotoko has now amassed 18 points from 10 matches which put them 2nd on the standings. They are one put above 3rd placed Ashanti Gold and a point behind leaders, Medeama SC.
They will need to up their game in their remaining matches in the preliminary round of the competition if they do want to qualify to the next phase and have the chance of representing Ghana in any of CAF’s inter-club competitions.
