Cup of Nations 2019 AFCON: Organizing Committee Reduce Ticket Prices For Egypt Games
MAY 15, 2019 LISTEN

The 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) organizing committee have announced they lowered the category three ticket prices for the Egypt games.

A couple of weeks ago, the organizing committee had announced the ticket prices for the Egypt games, in which they announced EGP 200 for category 3, EGP 400 for category 2, EGP 600 for category 1. Then EGP 500 for upper category 1 and finally EGP 2500 for the presidential box.

This news has caused a wide negative reaction from Egyptian fans and even former football figures calling for this tickets pricing list to be reconsidered to suit the Egyptian football fans who hoped to be able to attend the games.

Egyptian Football Association president Hany Abou-Rida has promised the fans that the organizing committee will re-evaluate the tickets prices in a way to assure the success of the tournament.

And on Wednesday, they have decided to lower the ticket prices for the category 3 seats to start at EGP 150 instead of EGP 200 to “ease the burden on the supporters and encourage them to attend the games.”

Following the decision, the ticket prices will go as follow:

For Egypt national team games: EGP 150 for category 3, EGP 400 for category 2, EGP 600 for category 1, EGP 500 for upper category 1, and finally EGP 2500 for the presidential box.

As for the other games: EGP 100 for category 3, EGP 300 for category 2 and EGP 500 for category 1.

The tournament will take place in Egypt between June 21 to July 19 and will be played at six different stadiums, the Cairo International, 30 June, El-Salam, Alexandria, Suez, and Ismailia.
