Kayserispor attacker, Asamoah Gyan has earned a deserved spot in the Turkish Super League team of the week following his impressive brace that helped his side to beat Kasimpasa on Sunday.
The Black Stars captain climbed off the match on the match day to score two beautiful headed goals for his side to earn an important 3 points. Before coming on, his side was trailing by a goal to nothing. But his experience and quality came to play as he scored his brace in the space of five minutes.
The player’s impressive performance earned him 8.1 ratings which eventually earned him a spot on the team of the week list. The former Sunderland star is joined in attack by Cameron James and Mbaye Diagne.
His overall rating of 8.1 despite playing less than 30 minutes is the 3rd highest on the list of top performing players on the match day. Following the display from the rejuvenated Asamoah Gyan, he is being urged to keep up his fitness ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Gyan has scored 6 goals across all competitions for Kayserispor this season. His numbers could have been different if not for the fact that he has had to battle with a recurring injury for most parts of the season.
He is now being strongly tipped to earn a call up for the next year’s AFCON which will be hosted by Egypt from June 21 to July 19, 2019.
