Head Coach for Asante Kotoko, Charles Kwablah Akonnor has bemoaned his side’s inability to fight and compete at the highest level following their 1-0 defeat to Ashanti Gold on Sunday, May 12, 2019.

The Obuasi based club dispatched the Kumasi side by posturing a narrow defeat over them on Match Week 11 of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalization Committee (NC) Special Competition at the Len Clay Stadium.

Speaking in a post-match interview on GTV, CK Akonnor explained that his players lacked the ability to fight on the day and could not play the kind of attacking game they set out to play.

“We still lack the ability to fight. The ability to play an attacking game. We were doing it before but we have a little bit of dip in the way we play, the approach, and from that point of view for me we have to improve and that is what has caused us”, the former Black Stars Captain said.

He added, “In the second half we sort of put a little bit of pressure on them but we were not clever on certain areas of the game and it caused us”.

Following that narrow defeat, the Porcupine Warriors remain 2nd on the Premier A table as we head towards the end of the preliminary round of the NC Special Competition. The Reds will have the chance of getting back to winning ways on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, when they host Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
