Cup of Nations Asamoah Gyan Back To Full Fitness As He Bags Brace For Kayserispor
MAY 12, 2019 LISTEN

Ghana Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has recovered to full fitness ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as he climbed off the bench on Sunday to score a brace for Kayserispor to help them dispatched Kasimpasa 2-1 in the Turkish Süper Lig.

The player has been on a journey to recover from a recurring injury that has kept him out for the most part of the 2018/2019 football season. Whiles many believe Gyan does not merit a place in Coach James Kwesi Appiah’s final squad for the AFCON tournament, his display on the pitch today surely revives people’s faith in the striker’s ability.

Having replaced Atila Turan in the second half, the former Sunderland star scored two good headers in the space of 5 minutes to show the quality he possesses and what he can do if given the chance to play.

Coach Kwesi Appiah is expected to announce his squad for the prestigious tournament on Monday, May 20, 2019. With what Gyan has shown today, he is surely in contention to make the list of strikers that will represent Ghana in Egypt.

Ghana is in Group F with Benin, Guinea Bissau, and defending champions Cameroon. The tournament will start on June 21 and end on July 19, 2019.
