Black Stars midfielder, Thomas Partey was the main highlight of the 2019 Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) awards as he emerged as the Sports Personality of the year.
The Atletico Madrid midfield enforcer beat Black Stars legend Tony Baffoe and Isaac Dogbe to win the award at a colorful ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) on Saturday night.
In the year 2018, Partey’s hard work saw him being nominated for the BBC African Footballer of the year award. Following an impressive season where he helped his club to lift the Uefa Europa League and Super Cup.
In the same year, he was the only Ghanaian player who was recognized on the continent after he was nominated for the 2018 Africa Player of the year award.
On the same night, Thomas Partey beat, John Antwi, Felix Annan, Kassim Nuhu, and Joseph Aidoo to win the Men’s Footballer of the year award.
