Tandem cyclist, Fredrick Assor who has secured a ticket to the 2020 Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo is in contention for the SWAG Para-Athlete of the Year 2018.

The Ghanaian para-cyclist will face Para Weight lifter and Armwrestler, Tahiru Haruna for the prestigious award.

Both Para Athletes did well in the year under review.

Assor is among two Africans selected by the International Cycling Union (UCI) due to his ranking on the chart.

He represented Ghana at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia and had an impressive outing at the Tandem Elite Championship in Australia.

The talented blind athlete placed fifth in the Championship, which aided his selection to the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Tadem is a track cycling event that requires a sighted pilot and a non-sighted rider.

Tahiru Haruna is the African champion in the + 75kg weight class. He has already been named SWAG Best Armwrestler and he will be honoured at the 44th MTN SWAG Awards Night at the Accra International Conference Center.

Over 30 distinguished sportsmen and women would be rewarded at the event which is expected to be graced by over 800 guests including the USA Ambassador to Ghana and the CEO of MTN, as well as the Youth & Sports Minister of Ghana and the president of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).

Ace musician Samini and the ASA Band will thrill the guests with good music. MC for the night is Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, a Ghanaian popular sports journalist.
