Ghana’s Black Queens made it two wins out of two matches on Friday, May 10, 2019, when they walloped Togo by six goals to nil to book their qualification to the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup of Nations.

The defending champions after starting off the competition with a 2-0 victory over Senegal a few days ago ensured they became the first team to qualify to the knockout stage as they exerted their supremacy on their Togolese counterpart.

A five-star performance from the Queens saw them mercilessly dispatch Togo who suffered a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Cote d’Ivoire in their first match of the competition.

A brace each from Mavis Owusu and Alice Kusi, together with two goals from Grace Asantewaa and u-17 star Mukarama Abdulai was enough to secure a huge victory for Coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo’s side.

By virtue of that emphatic win, Ghana is now top of Group A with 6 points and with a plus of 8 goals. Cote d’Ivoire could, however, take top spot later this evening if they manage to beat Senegal by a goal margin of 3.

Nonetheless, Ghana is already in the last 4 stage of the competition and looks a strong candidate to win the 2019 edition of the WAFU Zone B championship.
