The Black Queens will receive $10,000 dollars from celebrated actress Yvonne Okoro if they manage to qualify to the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup of Nations 2019 by beating Togo on Friday.

The eight-team tournament is gradually shaping up with Ghana well determined to successfully defend the WAFU Zone B title which they won last year.

Pitted in Group A with host nation Cote d’Ivoire, the Queens managed to win their first match yesterday by posturing a 2-0 win over Senegal.

The team is second on the Group A table but just behind Cote d’Ivoire on goal difference. If they are able to beat their Togolese counterpart on Friday, May 10, 2019, they will automatically book their ticket to the semi-finals.

Speaking in an interview after the side’s victory on matchday one, the award-winning Yvonne Okoro reiterated that he will be giving the Black Queens $10,000 if they qualify to the semi-finals.

“I made a promise of giving the entire team $ 10,000 should they reach the semifinals stage of the ongoing competition but after witnessing this beautiful exhibition of football and talent, I have decided to give them US$ 500 for drinks for winning this game”.

“Watching them today I feel so proud and I have decided to give them my money to motivate them because I realize everything football in this country is all about Men but these ladies are doing so much more than the men but we don’t encourage and support them enough”.

“This is my way of showing my support to the team and motive to know that there’s more for them. In this era of women empowerment and equality, this is my way of helping and hopefully, others will come on board”, she said whiles speaking to Ayishatu Zakaria Alli, a member of the team's communications team.

Ghana’s match with Togo will kick off at 18:30GMT on Friday.
