Tennis Help Me Create A Tennis Champion For Ghana Or I Will Pull Out My Sponsorship – McDan to GTF
MAY 6, 2019 LISTEN

Chairman of the McDan Group of companies Dr. Daniel McCauley has threatened to pull out his support from the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) if they do not help him create a tennis champion for Ghana.

His frustration comes on the back of the poor showing of Ghana’s contingents at the just ended McDan ITF Tour where none of the players was able to advance past the second round.

According to him, it is a shame Ghana could not have any of its players make any significant advancement in the tournament especially when it was hosted here in the country.

Speaking to the media after the finals of the tournament, the established entrepreneur said, “All the Ghanaian players were knocked out in round 2 and that is a bit sad. As I told them, we have to create a champion here and if the GTF or those who are managing tennis will not support me to create a champion, I will pull my sponsorship”.

“I can’t waste money. I want to see the boys being very disciplined and I want to see full support of the GTF to be able to manage the Ghanaian players. It is sad. You have seen a wonderful tournament, world-class tennis but our boys need to up their game”.

Despite calling for more to be done to improve Ghanaian Tennis players, Dr. Daniel McCauley indicated that he has been impressed with how the sport has been developed in the country since he joined hands with the GTF.

“Our Tennis players have seen what it takes to be a champion so there has been a lot of injection into our local players in the tournament so I feel that alone is enough”, McDan added.
