Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has denied claims from club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge that he 'fell in love' with transfer target Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Chelsea teenager was the subject of Bayern's attention in January, with the Bundesliga club making numerous bids for the winger while repeatedly discussing their desire to sign him in public.

The Blues refused to sell Hudson-Odoi despite a £35 million ($46m) bid from Bayern, leaving the German club's bosses frustrated. Rummenigge said that despite the rejection, they were still interested in signing the England youth international, claiming Salihamidzic had almost fallen in love with him.

"The only one Hasan would have liked to buy was this player from Chelsea," Rummenigge told reporters.

"I have to say that he nearly fell in love with this player and his qualities. All the other things were rumours.

"We don't have any demand on these positions for the second half of the season. This is a topic for the future. We'll handle it in the next months and will decide."

However, Salihamidzic has refuted Rummenigge's talk of falling in love, saying that there is only one person in his life worthy of his love.

"You know the only one I'm in love with is my wife," he insisted.

"But I am very, very convinced of the qualities this player has. He has a finesse which we need to play good, successful and sometimes even spectacular football."

Hudson-Odoi could still join Bayern Munich in the summer, with the 18-year-old winger still eager to move to the Bundesliga club after personally submitting a transfer request in January.

He played his fourth Premier League game of the season on Saturday, coming off the bench with 13 minutes remaining in Chelsea's 5-0 win over Huddersfield. Hudson-Odoi has played just 74 minutes in the league this season, with his starts coming in the cup competitions - most recently a goalscoring appearance against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup.

The winger also started twice in the Europa League and will be hoping to make the matchday squad for their round of 32 clashes with Malmo later this month.
