The Chairman of the Normalization Committee, Dr Kofi Amoah has confessed that President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo was prepared to welcome any FIFA sanction.

Following the airing of the 'Number 12' video by Anas Aremeyaw Anas last year, the government took the steps to dissolve the Ghana Football Association for engaging in criminal activities.

Top Ghana FA officials and match officials were filmed accepting bribe in their line of duties which goes against the rules of FIFA.

However, the government of Ghana upon several deliberations with FIFA and CAF accepted to welcome Normalization Committee to help cleanse football and restore its to it normalcy.

However, Dr Kofi in an interview with Adom TV called on Ghanaians to offer their support to the Normalization Committee as they work to restore football and insisted football loving fans must be grateful to Nana Akufo Addo for working his way out as Ghana escaped FIFA sanction.

"It was unfortunate when President Akufo Addo said the 2014 Commission of Inquiry was not his radar," he told Adom TV.

"However, he was surprised after the airing of the Anas Aremeyaw Anas 'Number 12' video and he was ready to do anything to cleanse Ghana football.

"There were threats that FIFA will ban Ghana when the government dissolve the FA but the president was ready to accept the ban because he saw that Ghana football has been ruined.

He continued, "But in a meeting with the president, he called the president of FIFA [Gianni Infantino] and he explained the situation in Ghana to him and low and behold we were able to escape the ban.

"When we were invited to Zurich, the president to tell FIFA the situation in our football and we did exactly the same they understood.

"The president and the Sports Minister are behind us [Normalization Committee] and I know we will execute our mandate by March 31, 2019," he concluded.
