The Ghana FA Normalizations Committee, Dr Kofi Amoah has revealed that the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has charged the Black Stars to end the country's long wait for an African title.

The four-time African champions will have the chance to win the title this year when the team join the rest of Africa at the Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Egypt in June.

Since 2008, the Black Stars have been to the semi-finals but failed to reach the target despite playing in the 2010 and 2015 finals respectively.

It is agenda win AFCON for Ghana, according to president Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.

"This is a very exciting times for Ghana, the president of Ghana wants us to win AFCON 2019 by any means necessary and I believe him because he has sat in meetings and has told his people I want you to do this and do that and he has met with the Black Stars coach and the captain," he told Joy FM.

"When the head of a nation says I want ABC to happen and the critical ingredients to achieve the ABC are there it is up to us to sharpen our organizational skills, to put the people together, to do what we can do to motivate them and make sure the schedule and programme to which we are going to win the AFCON is clear and that everybody understands their responsibilities.

"I am very hopeful that with the support of the president and the enthusiasm of Ghanaians to see a cup again I think we will do well."

Having won the last trophy in Libya in 1982, Ghanaians will be hoping Kwesi Appiah and his technical team break the jinx in Cairo.
