Tabi wins GCB Golf Championship

Accra, Nov. 20, GNA - Charles Tabi scored 42 points to win this year's Ghana Commercial Bank's (BCB) Golf championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday.

Tabi who played 20 points Front and 22 points Back respectively with a Handicap of 18, was presented with the magnificent trophy by the Managing Director of the Mr Lawrence Adu-Mante.

Bill Ayivor came second with 41 points when he beat Edmund Addo and Yaw Assah-Sam on count-back while Bob Evans placed fifth with 38 points by also beating John Nyen on count-back. Florence Etwi-Barimah won the Ladies category with 41 points when she beat Ama Morgan on count-back with Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong placing third with 40 points while Eunice Adzakpo took the fourth position with 37 points.

The Juniors' category was won by Peter Hogewoning who lifted the trophy with 39 points with Nicholas Catto taking the second position with 34 points.

Mr Kwame Saarah-Mensah, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club praised the Bank for sponsoring the championship and called on other corporate bodies to assist in helping to develop the sport in the country. The Managing Director said he was happy with the performance of the participants describing it as a show of talents worth maintaining. Mr Adu-Mante gave the assurance that the Bank would continue to support the Achimota Golf Club in its bid to develop the game.
