Football News Thomas Partey Out From African Player Of The Year Award List

Ghana midfielder, Thomas Partey has been axed from the 2018 African Player of the Year award after failing to make the 10-man shortlist for the prestigious gong.

Africa's football governing body on Friday morning announced a pruned list from the initial 34-man list and it did not include the Ghana international.

The shortlisted nominees were decided by votes from the members of the CAF Technical & Development Committee.

Senegal and Napoli ace Kalidou Koulibaly is the other renowned players to be axed but Egypt and Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah, who is the holder of the award, is in the list.

The final phase will involve votes from CAF Media Experts, Legends, Coaches of the quarter-finalists of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, and Coaches & Captains of the 54 Member Associations.

The Awards Gala will be held on Tuesday, 8 January 2019 in Dakar, Senegal.
