Appeal for assistance for Arsenals

Sunyani, (B/A) Nov. 18, GNA - Mr. Kingsley Osei-Bonsu, Chairman of Aduana Stars, a Division One football club based at Dormaa Ahenkro in the Brong-Ahafo Region has congratulated Premier League side, Berekum Arsenals for qualifying to play in the Confederation Cup competition next year and appealed for financial support for the team.

Arsenals placed fourth in the just ended GT Premier League after Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi King Faisal. Speaking to the GNA Sports in Sunyani, Osei-Bonsu, popularly known as "Kofi Zico" noted with concern the monetary demands of participating in the Confederation Cup competition.

He therefore appealed to the Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council, Municipal and District Assemblies, timber firms and other corporate bodies, NGOs and all sports loving people in the Region to assist the club make an impact at the competition.

"Kofi Zico" recalled the sad fate of some clubs that qualified for similar international competitions but were compelled to back out due to lack of money.

"If Arsenals manage to sail through the Confederations Cup competition, the honour will not only go to the Berekum club but to the Region as well as Ghana", he said.

The Club Chairman prayed that the club would be offered the necessary financial assistance so that they are not compelled to withdraw from the competition.

Osei-Bonsu commended Alhaji Yakubu Moro, Chairman of Arsenals for ably steering the club to ensure its promotion to the Premier level and urged the Club Chairman to sustain the standard to retain its status in the premiership.
