Ghana Black Stars winger, Frank Acheampong is delighted over his personal achievement after he emerged as the top scorer for his club in the just-ended Chinese Super Lig.

The 25-year-old completed the season with 17 goals in 26 appearances for the Tianjin Teda club which made him the club’s top scorer for the season.

Speaking to the Graphic Sports Online upon arrival at the Kotoko International Airport on Tuesday, the former King Faisal player said it had been his target to score more goals for his club during the season and was happy to have achieved that goal.

“I was able to achieve my target for the season; I remember we had a small party with the club to formerly introduce new players. It was then I declared my ambition that I was going to be the top goal scorer of my club.

“No one believed it, even my club president doubted me, because only three foreigners are allowed to play but I was determined,” he said.

Nonetheless, the former Anderlecht playmaker, whose side finished 14th in the Chinese League, was also disappointed by the performance of his club who struggled to escape relegation and described it as a very difficult one season.

“We had a very difficult season, at a point my team struggled to battle relegation but glory be to God that we were able to escape. The ‘Chinese Super Lig’ is very difficult to play in, many top players came but could not last.”

Tianjin Teda placed 14th in the league and has surely wade off relegation after they amassed 32 points after playing 30 matches throughout the 2018 season.
