The Ghana BodyBuilding and Fitness Association (GBFA) has scheduled Saturday, December 1 as the date for the 11th edition of the Man Ghana contest at the National Theater in Accra.

Mr Abdul Hayye Yartey, President of GBFA in a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, November 21, who outlined the activities for the event, said, there would be two an introduction of two new disciplines on the night.

He said that in addition to the usual men bodybuilding contest would be the female bikini and the men physic.

He explained that the female bikini would see females, who keep their body fitness, a priority flex in their bikinis, whilst men physic would showcase men who do not have muscles but have kept their bodies fit also flex for honours.

He noted that, as the only Bodybuilding and Fitness Association recognized by the National Sports Authority under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the top performers of the various categories would be selected into the national team, to represent the country at international events.

Mr Yartey added it was the aim of the GBFA to use the upcoming event to harness more talents and guide them with technical training to become professionals adding that top performers on the night, would be presented with certificates, trophies, and medals.

Mr Yartey noted that everyone was qualified to participate as long as the person was fit and registers to participate.

The Man Ghana competition started in 2006 and has since seen six champions.

Kofi Salia, has won the most on 3 occasions, Cyril Ajah Kofi winning it 2 times, John Anum, a Canadian base also winning twice, with Christopher Antoh and Yaw Azure winning once.

Other highlights of the night, would be a performance from top musicians in Ghana including Kofi Kinaata, Keche and Tee Phlow.

Gate fees are pegged at GHC50.00 and GHC100.00 respectively with the event commencing at 19:30 GMT.

Present at the press conference to launch the event were Samuel Adjei, Vice President of GBFA, Charles Owusu, National Organiser GBFA and Cyril Kofi Adga a former champion and currently the only professional bodybuilder in Ghana recognized by the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB).

Man Ghana is the most celebrated bodybuilding and fitness event and this year's edition codenamed 'the Battle of the Gladiators' would be held under the theme; "Health and Fitness, important for building a nation”.
