Accra, Nov. 11, GNA - The Management Board of Real Tamale United (RTU) Sporting Club has appealed for a stay of execution of the decision of the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association for sanctioning the club in the abortive league match played at the Tamale Kaladan Sports park last Sunday.

It said that, "the decision and the sanctions imposed on us are not commensurate with the offence we are charged with, and ought to be reduced or mitigated.

A press release issued by Jones Alhassan-Abu, Board Secretary of RTU copied to the General Secretary of the GFA and the GNA Sports said they wish to appeal against the decision of the Disciplinary Committee as contained in its ruling dated November 10.

Mr Alhassan-Abu said the GFA Disciplinary Committee erred in holding RTU responsible for the abrupt end of the match since they could not fulfil the onus of establishing the identities of the referee's assailants in the 79th minute of the match.

He said the club is forwarding the case to the Appeals Committee for further grounds to be canvassed at the hearing and have meanwhile requested for a copy of the record of proceedings of the Disciplinary Committee to enable the Club prepare for the appeal hearing.

The Disciplinary Committee sanctioned RTU for the crowd violence with a fine, home ban and lost of three points from their accumulated points of the GT League and awarded Kotoko three points and three goals.
