Mr. Magnus Rex Danquah, a member of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON), has said, plans are in place to bring on board top female officials in Ghana, to serve as mentors for members of the female national teams.

Mr Danquah, in an interview with GNA Sports, he said, bringing all female chief executives and other top officials under one umbrella, would help motivate the players ahead of the 2018 AWCON to be hosted by Ghana.

'Generally, we want to mobilize all the female chief executives in Ghana, female MPs and other top officials in public service, to pay regular visits to the team in camp and also serve as mentors for the players. This would motivate them to work harder to bring laurels to Ghana," he added.

According to Mr. Danquah, the Mascot for the tournament would be revealed on Friday, 28th September, as well as the official song for the tournament.

He said he was impressed with the progress of work at the Accra Sports Stadium, especially the re-grassing on the pitch.

"The grass is looking greener than before and I do not think there would be any hindrance to the usage of the stadium.

'I can see we are on track because I just did an inspection at the Accra Sports Stadium. The grass was looking beautiful, i doubt if we would have any challenge," he added.

Mr. Danquah, said they were within the time limit for the tournament and was confident the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF), would have no doubts in their minds during their next inpsection.

'We are sending a report to CAF by early next week, because they are having a meeting in Cairo, between 27-28, September," he added..

The African Women's Cup of Nations (AFCON) is expected to commence on the 17 of November to December 1 2018.
