A former class one referee, Silas Okine has given the clearest indication that the deputy chairman of the Ghana Referees’ Association (RAG), Joe Debrah is corrupt.

Anas Aremeyaw Anas's 'Number 12' documentary who has shaken the foundations of Ghana football captured 75 Ghanaian referees and match officials accepting bribe to change the outcome of matches.

And in an attempt to sanitize the association, mother body of the referees governing body (RAG) set up a five-member Disciplinary Committee to investigate the incident.

However, on Monday, September 17, RAG released a statement that they had accepted the recommendations made by the committee where 14 referees were exonerated as they claimed did not have any evidence to punish them.

Meanwhile, 61 were found guilty and had been suspended for 10 years each, out of the 61, 8 of them have been banned for life.

But Silas Okine questioned the moral right of Joe Debrah and some executives of not having the moral right to superintend suspension insisting as he witnessed Mr. Debrah accepting a bribe to influence result of a game involving Premier League side, AshantiGold.

“Referee Joe Debrah and myself went to take bribe at the Anyinam Lodge in a match involving AshantiGold. Referee Joe Debrah went with me to take the bribe on two different occasions,” Okine stated on Happy FM.

“Referee Joe Debrah took me in his car and we went for the money, so he has no moral right to ban referees for taking bribe.”
