Head coach of the national U-17 team, the Black Starlets has credited the victory over Togo on Saturday a well "executed strategy" by his players.

The Black Starlets who needed a win to progress to the semi-finals were outstanding in the game against their neighbours Togo by beating them 2-1.

Christian Agyenim Boateng and Simon Appiah scored for the two times African Champions who advanced to the semifinals where they face Ivory Coast.

Karim Zito, who was disappointed by the match day 1 draw with Niger was satisfied with the approach by the team in the win against Togo.

"From our first match, a lot happened and what we expected from the game we didn't get it so we planned and I am happy we saw the way Togo played and the other countries. We mapped a strategy based on the weakness in our team. Our creativity was very low in that game and trying to attack and defend was difficult," he said after the game.

"So I came up with a strategy and a system that will suit the players based on the problems of the first game. So all we practised came to reality. If you saw the way we attack, if not we wasted more chances we could have killed the game in the first half," he added.

The Black Starlets will have to win WAFU U-17 Championship to qualify for the Africa Juvenile next year in Tanzania.

The team will play Ivory Coast in the semi-final next.
