Hearts of Oak Halt All Friendly Match Against Asante Kotoko

First Vice Chairman of the National Chapters Committee of Hearts of Oak, Lawrence Ofosu Agyare says his outfit will desist from playing any friendly match with arch-rivals Asante Kotoko for now following the unfortunate incident that occurred during Sunday's Super 2 clash.

Hearts of Oak tasted a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Asante Kotoko, to record back to back losses against their arch-rivals in the space of seven days - having lost by the same number of goals against their rivals last week.

Striker Obed Owusu opened the scoring for the Reds after a swift counter-attacking football before Emmanuel Gyamfi sealed victory with a fine strike. Both goals came in the second half.

In the build-up to Porcupine's first goal, Hearts winger Patrick Razak was dispossessed off the ball in the Kotoko goal area by defender Agyemang Badu, which the fans believed should have merited a penalty but was waved off by referee Kwame Sefah.

The supporters of the Accra-based giants vented their frustration on the official and started throwing missiles onto the pitch which led to the arrest of seven of their fans.

Seven persons who are believed to be fans of the Rainbow Club were arrested by the police in the wake of the barbaric act.

The club's board met on Wednesday to deliberate on the disturbing issue where they collectively decided to hold on to any non-competitive match against their adversaries from henceforth.

"We stated categorically to our CEO that they should hold on to any uncompetitive match arranged to be played against Kotoko," Agyare detailed on Oyerepa FM.

"For now, I will say no because the leadership across the nation is calling for that because even now some 7 supporters of ours are in police custody."

The two clubs are scheduled to honour the JA Kufour Cup, but the decision by the Accra giants suggest that they will pull out from the match.
