Some Referees Caught In Anas Expos Failed To Appear Before Investigating Committee - Retd. Referee

Retired Referee Ali Musah Plato has stated that some referees who were captured in the Anas Aremeyaw Anas investigative documentary for allegedly taking bribes failed to appear at the investigative committee set up by the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG).

About 17 referees and match officials were captured on tape receiving monies from undercover investigators from Tiger Eye PI who posed as agents for some premier league clubs.

In an attempt to sanitize the association, mother body of the referees governing body (RAG) set up a Disciplinary Committee to investigate the incident.

However, according to the committee's secretary, some referees failed to appear before his outfit as they brought their sitting to an end on Thursday.

"We have brought our sitting to an end but still working to present our recommendations to RAG," Plato told Oyerepa FM.

"A greater number of them appeared before us, some didn't but gave us reasons whilst others even failed to acknowledge receipt of the invitation."

"All those who appeared before us were recorded to avoid any controversies in the future."

"We don't want any situation where people will be accusing us unnecessarily. I'm hearing some referees are calling for the dissolution of RAG, I want to find out when they realized that, was it after the Anas documentary or when."

"The situation is very unfortunate and as referees, we should try to be decorum in our pronouncements to avoid washing our dirty linen in public."
