A member of the defunct Executive Committee of the Nyantakyi led Ghana Football Association is expecting people with “unblemished integrity” to be appointed to steer the affairs of football albeit temporarily.

According to Randy Abbey FIFA and CAF are expected to name members of the normalization committee that will see to the smooth administration of football until a permanent structure is put in place.

His comments come hours after FIFA released a statement on a roadmap to resuscitate football in Ghana after months of dormancy.

An undercover investigative report by Anas Aremeyaw Anas in Ghana football revealed widespread corruption by administrators, referees etc.

Former Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi is facing a ban from FIFA as a result of the findings in the investigative report.

As a result, the government took steps to liquidate the Football Association which it says had been used as a vehicle for corruption

But FIFA issued an August 27 deadline for Ghana to stop the court action to liquidate the Ghana Football Association or be suspended from all FIFA related activities.

In a letter to the government of Ghana, FIFA said the action to liquidate the FA is a flagrant violation of the rules of FIFA.

That letter triggered a meeting between Ghana and FIFA on Thursday after which a new roadmap was formulated.

Part of the roadmap is to “establish a joint task force to create proper disciplinary, governance and auditing mechanisms as well as ensure that persons who are found culpable are punished in accordance with Ghanaian domestic laws and FIFA statutes."

“FIFA upon consultation with the GoG and CAF shall establish a normalization committee to replace the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association;

“FIFA in consultation with the GoG and CAF shall appoint persons with integrity and competence to constitute the membership of the normalization committee,” the statement said.

Speaking to Joy FM’s Evans Mensah on Top Story, Randy Abbey welcomed the new roadmap even though he said the country could have arrived at this point much earlier than it has.

He had in the past commended government for intervening in the rot in Ghana Football but chided it for seeking to liquidate the Association.

He explained the normalization committee can only be constituted by FIFA and CAF with some amount of consultation from the government.

He hoped the new committee will ensure a speedy return to football and its administration in Ghana.
