Football News RAG To Act On Linear, Wellington
AUG 14, 2018 LISTEN

Two members of the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) Linear Addy and Joseph Wellington who are under investigations for allegedly bringing the name of the association into disrepute will know their fate after September 6, 2018.

While Linear is an Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the head of the FA’s Women’s League Board, Mr Wellington, a retired FIFA referee, is currently the vice chairman of the FA Referees Committee.

The RAG has charged Linear and Mr Wellington for bringing the name of the association into disrepute and is awaiting their responses to a Disciplinary Committee (DC) established to investigate their actions.

The DC is expected to report their findings and recommendations to the RAG by September 6, 2018, to enable them to determine their next line of action.

The two were among match officials captured in #Number 12- the documentary by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas of Tiger Eye PI- for allegedly being influenced with money by undercover agents.

RAG chairman, Joe Debrah, told the Graphic Sports Online that, even though three Match Commissioners were implicated in the expose’, only Liner and Mr Wellington were being investigated because the third person, Mr Henry Attortonou is now deceased.

“The two are all under the Referees Association of Ghana, so they are being treated together like the 74 other referees who have already been handed various punishments after investigation were conducted into their actions,” Mr Debrah explained to the Graphic Sports Online.

The RAG boss further explained that a disciplinary committee had already been set up to investigate the conduct of both Linear and Mr Wellington and the report of the committee, as well as their recommendations, would inform RAG’s next line of action.

“The disciplinary committee has already started sitting and are expected to submit their report on September 6. Their offence is that their conduct has brought the name of the association into disrepute,” he explained.

Last week, RAG suspended 74 referees captured in the #Number 12 expose’ on the recommendation of the disciplinary committee which investigated their conduct
