Tamale, Oct. 5, GNA - Real Tamale United (RTU) struggled to beat Kumasi King Faisal 2-1 in their rescheduled GT Premier League match played at the Tamale Kalanda Park.

The match started on a fast note with both sides cancelling each other in the midfield, however, it was RTU who emerged the stronger and created the first scoring chance, which was wasted by Alhassan Weah. The RTU lads continued to trouble the Faisal defence but the vigilance of the visitors' rear guard with the support of agile goalkeeper Suraju Mohammed denied them the lead.

RTU's attackers became frustrated as all their attempts at scoring were thwarted, forcing their striking pair of Weah and Tofic Alolo to resort to firing from long range.

King Faisal to curtail the incessant attacks of the home team, massed up in the midfield and relied on the pace of Eric Gawu, who unsettled the RTU defence anytime he breaks.

Surprisingly, when Referee Kofi Antwi whistled for the end of the first half, supporters of RTU rushed unto the field to attack him on the grounds that he did not stamp his authority on the game. Normalcy however returned when Police security on duty rushed to prevent any nasty incident.

When the game resumed, RTU raised their game and succeeded in scoring the first through Weah whose thunderbolt of a shot was blocked by a Faisal defender for Akwasi Soalie who was lurking around to finish off the rebound in the 53rd minute.

RTU doubled their lead in the 71st minute again through Weah who out jumped the King Faisal defence to head in a cross from the right flank.

Faisal brought on Sumaila Yahaya to strengthen their attack and this paid off when his combination with Gawu worried the RTU defence. In one of such move, Gawu out jumped the RTU goalkeeper to head a cross into the net to register his side's only goal. But the RTU goalkeeper fell heavily after the challenge by Gawu that resulted in the goal and this infuriated some supporters of the home team who invaded the field again to attack the referee.
