Ghanaian Minigolf sensation Kelvin Boateng held his nerve to produce a sublime 18-hole of putting to claim the men’s stroke play title at the recent 2018 coco-cola Africa Minigolf championship in Accra.

Boating held off Guinean Abu Bakar Korouma to claim the trophy and one out of four available tickets to participate in the major series later in the year in Las Vegas USA.

Boating said winning the three-day tournament which featured the best players across the African continent has left him confident of pulling a surprise in Las Vegas.

Gladys Kpatchy of Togo completed a brace of laurels by partnering with her compatriot, Arthur Somase, to win the Mixed Pairs event, in addition to her Women’s Strokeplay crown.

In the Knock Out Cup, German Alice Kobisch edged out 54 other players including her compatriot, Christian Pannek whom she defeated by sudden death in the final.

Alice 53, aced the difficult hole 18 with a hole-in-one in the second playoff round.

Special awards were presented to Maruf Ahmed, the most consistent and Forbes Club, the Most Progressive Club.

Mr Talal Fattal, President of the Ghana Minigolf Association commended the players for their competitive spirit and enthusiasm of all the participants. He said Minigolf has come to stay and soon champions would be getting handsome prizes and awards.

The 2018 Africa Minigolf competition was sponsored by Coca-Cola, MTN, with support from other companies.

Over 100 players from over 15 countries took part in the three-day tournament.
