Kumasi Asante Kotoko Communications Director, Obed Acheampong has confirmed that the club is in talks with bitterest rivals Accra Hearts of Oak for a friendly match. The two Giants of Ghana football are lining up a two-legged friendly match to be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Spokesperson for the Kumasi based club confirmed the friendlies in the pipeline in an interview with HAappy FM today.

Government of Ghana has suspended all football activities in the country which means league football has been brought to a halt. Government’s decision to suspend football is part of a move to dissolve the Ghana Football Association as a result of the rot an investigative piece by Anas Aremeyaw Anas highlighted.

The documentary by the Investigative Journalist on Ghana football brought to light several football referees and administrators taking monies alleged to be bribed. As well as the GFA President lawyer Kwasi Nyantakyi accepting money from a potential sponsor of the Ghana Premier League.

With no competitive matches being played in the country, clubs have resorted to playing friendly matches.

Obed Acheampong explained today that they have received a proposal from their sworn nemesis for a two-legged friendly match. The matches are expected to be played in August.

He adds that after receiving the proposal from Hearts of Oak for the friendly matches, the accepted it wholeheartedly.

“We are in talks with Hearts of Oak to play a friendly match. It will be a two-legged affair,” the Kotoko spokesperson revealed.
