Division One : Vipers beat Samartex

Cape Coast, Sept. 26, GNA - Cape Coast Venomous Vipers played a highly determined game to beat Samartex 1-0 in their Division One League match at the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium on Sunday.

After a scoreless first half, Vipers resumed the second a revitalised side and went ahead to score the match winner through their playmaker, Francis Yankey in the 55th minute.

Yankey after collecting a midfield pass disposed of his marker and delivered a powerful shot to the blind-side of the Samartex keeper into the net.

Ten minutes after the goal, Vipers outside right, Ernest Mensah, was shown the red card for a second bookable offence. Samartex from then on took control of the game attacking from all angles in search of the equaliser but the defence of Vipers worked overtime to hold unto their 1-0 lead till the final whistle.
